Okay, here's the deal. I was thinking the other day of how to make this club more exciting. And since we're all from the insights (for now anyway) that maybe we'd hold a contest for this X-mas. Its kind of late but here me out here. The thing is, since I am the one submitting the stuff for the Art Page, I was thinking to make it a bit more interesting. So! I've come up with 2 Contests! Look further down for the contest rules.

In other stuff, I was thinking of having a theme per month and sort of an artist of the month be it within or outside of the club. I want you all to get exposed to different types of art and not just the anime that we are all way too familiar with. For those of you who are still freshmen and want to make a real career out of art, this might help. The people we are going to feature are people from right here in DA so it will be easier for you all to access their art and other people linked to them. So, that will be our new gimik starting from today.

Yes people, we actually have contests and for this month alone, we have two. Now let me explain both.


1. Contest One: The Smiles of Love -- Art Page Showcase (Insights Magazine)

DEADLINE OF ENTRIES: December 27, 2005

Rules for this contest:
First of all, the art page is a feature that was just intoduced this year for those of your who are unaware of that or who dont read the insights at all. Second of all, since ouir art is exposed there, I thought that maybe we could showcase someone for a very fine piece of art that they did! So, whoever wins this contest get to be "showcased" there. That's something that I will take care of later on with the layout people. So, here are the rules.

a. The art work must be nice in black and white. Althought the actual piece can be colored (it will be displayed here in DA too) in the magazine itself, the  artwork must be in black and white--no matter how much we want the colored print to be there.

b. it must be within the contest's theme. In this contest, the theme will be "The Smiles of Love" and should be about people that love each other together. this could be about anything concerning love: boy and girl, mother and father, mother and son, father and daughter, between friends, between siblings, between master and pet, between a person and his/her passion for something; in other words, ANYTHING as long as it conveys love for it/ the person. Gets? Alright.

c. there is no size limitation. Make it as big or as small as you want! if it is big, remember that in case it does win, it will still be resized to fit in the page. Alright? Okay. And if its small, provided that the people can still actually see it. Doi.

d. as long as it is decent. I know that there are some people who equate a "showcase of love" for you-know-what. dont deny it! I know there are! And, that is a no-no. You know the "system" in the school, and it is a bit more laxed here but if you want it to win or anything, it has to be decent.

e. it can be any type of art form. Be it a portrait or a picture (provided you took it yourself! and you have the permission of the people in the picture that their faces will be displayed in 400+ copies), a drawing, a painting, even a very nicely done sketch! anything is cool! even sculptures are cool (just make sure you made them yourself, okay?)

f. send it to us through a note. I mean, the link. Upload the image to your gallery first then send me a note with the link to it so I can display it on here as well!

Prizes:

like I said, the showcase in the art page OR, if its really good, and if it is within the theme of the Insights, the cover of the fourth and final issue of the magazine this school year! Yippee!!!


WAIT! How do you win you ask? WELL! It will be through a voting process by people within and outside of the club (those who vote from outside the club, if I think they have what it takes, I'll ask them to join too even if they arent on the staff, aye?). I will put the final works on one image and we'll let people vote for the artwork and not the artist. I will not display the name of the artist of each picture until the votes have been tallied. That's the rule. At the end of a certain period, I shall announce the winner and send the winner a note. THAR you gooo.



2. Contest Two: Be Aware -- Art Page Showcase (Insights Editorial Cartoon and Newpaper)

DEADLINE OF ENTRIES: December 27, 2005

Rules for this contest:
This contest has a different background. For those of the art staff that DONT ATTEND THE MEETINGS THAT ARE ANNOUNCED, the club entered a contest that is supposed to be in the form of a newspaper. Our department's job is small. We're tasked to do an editorial cartoon of sorts PLUS an art page. THE theme of this contest is found in letter b.

a. The art work must be nice in black and white. Althought the actual piece can be colored (it will be displayed here in DA too) in the magazine itself, the  artwork must be in black and white--no matter how much we want the colored print to be there.

For example, the tsunami was almost a year ago and people are still suffering there.
